    7. Enter your M-Pesa PIN.

  5. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.
  6. For prepaid customers; after you receive a transaction confirmation SMS from M-PESA, you will receive an SMS from KPLC indicating the amount paid, date, total tokens received and a unique code of numbers.

Paying Kenya Power Bill through Airtel Money (Airtel)

Here is the step by step guide on KPLC bill payment using Airtel Money.

  1. Select ”Airtel Money” from the menu.
  2. Click on “Make Payments”.
  3. Select “Paybill” and enter KPLC Paybill Number
  4. Choose Kenya Power Bill for post-paid bill OR Kenya Power Prepaid for purchase of tokens.
  5. Enter the amount you wish to pay.
  6. Enter your Airtel Money PIN.
  7. Under the reference option, type your full Kenya Power account number e.g. 123456-01.6. Confirm that all details are correct.
  8. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.

The transaction takes 24 hours to be updated after the KPLC bill payment .

You can check your Kenya Power bill by sending the first part of your account number e.g. 123456 by SMS to 95551.

The Mpesa payment system can also be used for paying other services in Kenya like Gotv payments and DSTV Payments.

Cash Payment at Kenya Power Company

At the time of writing this article, this service was only available to Co-operative Bank customers. This is for people who have bank accounts with Co-operative Bank, they can use their mobile phone as an electricity bill payment point. However the service is not automatic as one needs to register at their bank for M-Banking service which shall be linked to the registered Kenya Power account number with the bank for the individuals account.
