Ingredients

  • A cupful of Omena (500 grams)
  • 2 Ripe tomatoes
  • 1 spoon Cooking oil
  • 1 onion (medium)
  • 1 bunch of Dania (Coriander)
  • 1 Garlic (optional)
  • 1 Green chilli (optional)
  • 1 glass of Water or milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Royco cube
  • ½ sliced lemon

 Procedure

  1. First remove dirt from omena, then wash in luke-warm water.
  2. Add water to your Omena in a sufuria/pot, boil for minimum 30 minutes or more.
  3. Cut onions into small pieces then fry until golden brown.
  4. Add Garlic and fry slightly.
  5. Add Tomatoes followed by dhania
  6. Drain all the water from boiled omena then add cook for 2 minutes
  7. Add your Royco cube and salt to taste then stir.
  8. Add Milk (or water if no milk) boil for 3-5 minutes
  9. Ready!
  10. Serve then Squeeze some lemon on the Omena while on the table.
  11. Remember omena is best served with hot ugali and vegetables (eg. Kales).
  12. Enjoy!!!
